The last supper

The last supper

Preparing to leave and start our life as perpetual travelers means leaving family and with that all those home-made delicious meals previously taken for granted.

The closer we approach departure day, the more we indulge in traditional Polish cuisine. Mum in law does her best to treat us in our hometown Szczecin. We are spoiled with piernik, nalesniki z nadzieniem, zupa z lanymy kluskami, rosol, the famous and sour zupa ogorkowa, then we always have different kinds of surowka as a side dish and to drink we of course have refreshing woda z syropem malinowym or hot herbata.

All tastes delicious in those cold winter days as we approach the -20°C mark!

Salatka ziemniaczana is potato salad. Every family has their own recipe. I love the sweet concoction of water and raspberry syrup.

Different kinds of surowka – side salad. The left one is with dried salmon and the right one with kiszony ogorek – Polish style pickled cucumber and paprika.

And for desert: piernik z czekolada – ginger bread with chocolate.
